23rd january

Today we added some finishing touches to the title sequence. We managed to get the timing of the images with the beat of the music which makes it look professional. Im happy with how it has turned out but i still think there is something missing and would be improved.
We also decided to film some more footage for the 2 minute opening on the weekend as we are falling a bit behind.

22nd January

Today we carried on editing the timing of the title sequence. We also edited the footage which we had lost into the title sequence and made it flow smoothly. Im happy with how the progress is going on the title sequence as i feel the images with the soundtrack give the feel of a gritty soap opera.

21st January

Today we put all of the pictures and clips into our title sequence and edited them to make the sequence flow smoothly and professionally. We added the theme tune and then edited the timing of the images to the beat of the song. We also decided to edit the end of the theme tune as it just stopped suddenly and didn't sound right. This made the theme tune fade out and sound more professional.
There were a few technical problems which caused us to fall a bit behind in schedule as we had to upload some of the footage that we uploaded a previous day again.

19th January

Today we made a start on out title sequence and filmed some scenes that we were going to include in there. We wanted the clips to be of the characters and made sure that their personalities would be clearly shown. We got our friend sofia to play the role of a 'chav' and dressed her up in a chavvy coat and put lots of make up and hoop earlings on her. We then got her to smoke a cigarette and blow the smoke into the camera. I think this clip looks interesting and it is easy to identify her with her chav personality, so this was a success. We also filmed ourselves walking into college to link the soap with the college location. We did this so the younger characters in the soap could fit around this clip in the title sequence as they spend alot of their time in college.
Me and Ben then uploaded the footage and then decided to make a start on the theme tune of our soap. We wanted it to sound catchy and not upbeat and happy as we wanted it to fit in with the social realism of the soap which is woking class and depressing. We did this on a programme on the macs called garageband and i think it was a success!
While we did this, courntee and josh went out and filmed more scenes for the title sequence.

17th january

Today we started to film our soap opera. We went to josh's house and filmed the scenes with Emily weighing herself, getting dressed and taking a bittle away from her passed out alcoholic mother. We rehearsed many times before we filmed to make sure that we had good footage which we could include in our soap. From our knowledge from The Bill workshop we used master shots, over the shoulder shots and others to make the scene more interestinga dn flow together.

14th January

Today we planned to do our location scouting which me and ben decided to do. We took a digital camera and went to the Birmingham city centre and took photographs of many famous sights such as the bullring, places around broad street and buildings such as flats as we wanted to capture the grungy, working class feel in our soap. We did this for the rest of the day and we managed to take plenty of photos for the rest of the group to choose from.
While we did this courtnee and josh took photos of local places where we were going to film.

9th January

Today we uploaded the footage that we made from The Bill workshop. Unfortunatley due to technical problems the footage took ages to uploada nd we were unable to start editing. However we had all of the next lesson to do so which we planned to do then.

7th January-The Bill workshop

after returning from our holiday we were given a chance to see what it was like directing, filming and acting. A director named sebastian, who had directed many television programmes and worked with many stars came in and taught us different important shots that they used. These included the master shot; youy would base most of your soap around which was one straight take of the scene. He also gave us tips on directing and that the director controlled everything the actors did and other roles such as cameramen.
We where then split up into groups and were left to film and renact a scene from the police drama "The Bill". In our groups we switched roles to get a feel of what each individual job as the actors, cameraman and director was like for a short period then decided which one we wanted be. I chose to be an actor and we managed to film our scene successfully with a range of shots which included over the shoulder shots, two shots, close ups and master shots.
After the filming was complete we got to ask questions about anything we wanted to know to do with directing, filming and acting and i think i gained some knowledge in all of these fields and got me interested in the idea of working behind the set of programmes and films.
